PROMOTING HEALTH FROM THE INSIDE OUT

The S.P.A.R.K. mentorship program created by The SPARK Initiative, helps youth between the ages of 13 - 22 become more resilient, self-confident and have deeper understanding of their own value, as well as the value of others, which leads to greater academic success, a healthier state of mind, and a deeper connection with peers, adults, schools and communities

 

BEING OK WITH EVERYTHING NOT ALWAYS BEING OK

The curriculum teaches youth an understanding of the mind and it connects knowledge and skills learned in order to help youth navigate their personal life experiences and circumstances.

Through conversations, highly interactive activities and reflection, students  have insights that enable them to be resilient and able to rise quickly from adversity, no matter how much chaos there seems to be around them.

The S.P.A.R.K. Mentoring curricula uses age appropriate content and activities that have been proven to effectively reduce risk of drug use, bullying, suicide, depression and anxiety, while uncovering resiliency around academic success, impulse control, stress resistance,  social-emotional skills and healthy relationships.

The S.P.A.R.K. program addresses the following risk and protective factors:

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

12 WEEKS. A CALMER STATE OF MIND. BETTER RESULTS.

Insight-based development & learning

This curriculum is specifically designed for youth ages 13–22. Each lesson takes a deep look at how the human experience works and how we can use this knowledge to cultivate human and creative potential within all lives. Throughout this curriculum participants will be guided toward their inner brilliance in order to maximize their personal potential.

The S.P.A.R.K. Mentoring program is evidence based, and proven to be effective in helping children and youth create greater academic success, a healthier state of mind, and a deeper connection with peers, adults, schools and communities.

Each lesson covers relatable topics that help children & adolescents navigate the trials and celebrate the accomplishments of their school years.

 

Through this program, participants will:

  • gain a better understanding of themselves and others,
  • develop vital social and emotional skills,
  • access their creative intelligence
  • and cultivate their personal potential

From thought to result - an introduction to the thought chain and how thoughts are not real, yet they create our reality.

Yep! Those are thought too!

Identify and define the difference between perceptions, beliefs, values and opinions and discover what they have to do with our experience of life.

Your internal GPS to decision-making

Identify the relationship between decision making and consequences and how valuable our intuition is when we make decisions.

Habits pulling you around

Understand how habits are formed through our thinking, and how our brains like to form habits, because they are effective. Learn to override the "Lizard Brain" and stop unwanted habits.

How the state of mind affects judgment and reasoning

Demonstrate how the state of mind influences decisions and perceptions.

Surviving mood swings

Define and identify different mood characteristics and how the mood fluctuates constantly and that state of mind and mood are directly linked, but that both come from within and are not, and cannot, depend on circumstances.

Make peace with stress

Define and identify stress and the personal indicators of stress in order to both avoid and create a healthier relationship with stress.

Feeling fear and insecurity without fear and insecurity

Define fear and uncertainty and identify the difference between true danger and fearful and insecure thinking. Understand the potential of experiencing fear and uncertainty without having to be limited by them.

The Inside-Out Nature of Self-Esteem

Discover that self-confidence is a natural state in all of us and understand how we limit our own capacity. Distinguish between self-esteem, self-confidence and self-image.

Separate realities

Understand that no one can ever experience the same situation in exactly the same way and how this affects our communication, conflict management and relationships as a whole.

Discovering You

Demonstrate the ability to see their goals and dreams as ever evolving, just like their potential. Identify insights they have gained for themselves.
